Patricia “Pat” Marie Donaldson, 79, of West Point, Iowa and formerly of Oskaloosa passed away Sunday, November 9, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Pat was born July 22, 1935, in Iowa City, to Eugene “Gene” and Alma (Matthews) Jacobs.

Pat graduated from Hedrick High School in 1953, and then attended nursing school. On July 28, 1968, Pat married Daniel D. Donaldson, Jr. Together, Pat and Dan raised six children while living in and around Iowa and Wisconsin.

Pat was a homemaker, and also spent several years working at Pella Corp in Pella. Pat’s interests included working with horses and breeding and selling English bulldogs, as well as gardening, sewing and reading.

Mrs. Donaldson is survived by her step-mother, Dorothy Jacobs of Sigourney; daughters: Kay (& Ralph) Wilson of West Point; Tina (& Kirk) Patten of Indianola; and Tanja Evans of Rose Hill; grandchildren: Brandi (& Jeremy) Gassmann of Lee’s Summit, MO; RJ Thomas of Carmel, IN; Jennifer (& Shawn) Maxwell of Beacon; Travis (& Sheena) Patten of Edmonton, Alberta; Kassie (& Rick) Runyan of Kansas City, MO; Benjamin Evans of Rose Hill; Jeremy (& Whitney Perdue) Evans of Oskaloosa; and Michael Evans of Oskaloosa; as well as 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sons: David Donaldson, Matthew Shafranek, and Michael Shafranek; and grandsons: Jesse Shafranek, Danny Thomas, and David Donaldson.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to those who have offered condolences and support.

At Pat’s request, there will be no service.
A private family burial will be at a later time.
Friends may join the family for lunch and fellowship at 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 15, 2014, in the Fellowship Hall at the Central United Methodist Church, 201 N. Market Street, Oskaloosa.
Contributions in memory of Pat may be made to the Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel, 2116 North 3rd Street, Oskaloosa, IA 52577, for a memorial to be decided by the family at a later date.
