Indians Season Ends With Road Loss

The Indians frustrating season came to an end on Friday night against Carlisle.

Carlisle, Iowa – The 1-8 Oskaloosa Indians Varsity Football team didn’t have the season they had hoped for. With play-off hopes dashed weeks ago,, Friday night was an opportunity for the players to just enjoy the game and share the experience with their teammates.

Oskaloosa Head Coach Mike Sterner spoke about the end of the season. “We’re a team that had lots of potential and lots of things we did well, but we did a lot more things that hurt ourselves.”

“We did not fix the things that needed to be fixed to be a competitive football team,” said Sterner. “We would do things well, and then we’d have a penalty. We wouldn’t do something, we wouldn’t do our assignment.”

“I [Sterner] feel for these kids because they have put a lot into it, and they definitely didn’t get out of it what they put into it.”

Sterner said that now the team will “look at where we are and evaluate what we were doing and how we were doing it and find ways to get better, because we’ve got to take steps forward to be more competitive than that.”
