Roberta Van Dusseldorp, 71, of Oskaloosa, passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 8, 2014, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Roberta Cozine Van Dusseldorp, daughter of Robert Monroe and Odra (Cozine) Fisher, was born April 22, 1943, in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Roberta attended Oskaloosa Schools. December 29, 1956, she married Lloyd Van Der Veer; to that union three sons were born: Jeff, Justin and Jason. They later divorced and Roberta married Robert Baker, April 23, 1967. To that union two daughters were born: Rebecca and Rachelle. They also later divorced. She married Ernie Van Dusseldorp, December 31, 1983.
Since Roberta’s marriage to Ernie, they have lived in Oskaloosa and in the Clarksville, Arkansas area, spending many winters there. Most recently, they had lived in Arkansas from 2007 to 2012.
When her children were school aged, Roberta worked for several years as a Kindergarten teacher at their school, the New Life Christian Academy in Clarksville. In her early years, Roberta worked at Mahaska Hospital as a Nursing Assistant and at K-mart in Oskaloosa, as the manager of the women’s apparel department.
Roberta was a lot of fun and had a great sense of humor. She loved to play pool and some would consider her a “pool shark”. She was also a good fisherwoman and enjoyed the sport wherever she lived. While in Oskaloosa, she attended the Jubilee Family Church.
Her family includes her husband, Ernie of Clarksville, AR; three sons: Jeff Van Der Veer of Clarksville, AR; Justin (& Kelly) Van Der Veer of Beacon, IA; and Jason (& Alicia) Van Der Veer of Chillicothe, IA; two daughters: Rebecca Baker and Rachelle (& Todd) Deeter, both of Oskaloosa; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers: Robert (& Linda) Fisher of Carroll, IA and Gene (& Linda) Fisher of Iowa Falls, IA; a sister, Joyce (& Duane) Huyser of Oskaloosa; a special aunt, Sarah Prather of Oskaloosa; and stepchildren: Susan and Dean McDanel of Carlisle and Nathan Doty of Oskaloosa.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services for Roberta will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bill Tvedt of the Jubilee Family Church officiating.
Burial will be in Chillicothe Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., Friday at the funeral chapel, with the family greeting visitors from 5-7 p.m.
Memorials may be made to MHP Hospice Serenity House.
