Oskaloosa Main Street To Host Nationally Recognized Branding Expert

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Why would people want to be a part of Oskaloosa? How can Oskaloosa improve itself? These and many more questions will be part of an upcoming assessment by Roger Brooks, President of Destination Development International. Brooks will deliver his assessment of Oskaloosa on Friday, September 19, 2014.
For those unfamiliar with Brooks assessments of communities, he and his company have helped communities around the United States, and the world, to find their brand. His often harsh criticism of a community is a cornerstone to helping those in that community become aware of deficiencies.
Brooks will deliver the first part of his assessment starting at 8:30 am at George Daily Auditorium and is scheduled to go until noon. According to Oskaloosa Main Street, “Roger has guided communities in branding, product development, marketing, and revitalization.”
Before he delivers that assessment, Brooks and his team will be traveling around Oskaloosa to identify opportunities that will help the area develop better marketing, build brand identity, understand key improvements that are needed, help augment service to visitors, enhance retail area, improve community gateways and increase tourism revenue. The workshop will include a branding presentation as well as a workshop on the findings from his visit.
Industry, community organizations, tourism, retail and area leaders will be in attendance, and everyone in Oskaloosa is also encouraged to attend. The assessment will go beyond tourism, and will discuss impact business investment, workforce recruitment, and community development.
The workshop will feature the art of branding and an assessment of findings and suggestions from his visit to Oskaloosa. Roger will share his insights on opportunities that are being missed in the greater Oskaloosa area.
