Paula Whipple, 46, of Oskaloosa passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Paula Mae Whipple, daughter of Ronald and Wilma (Berg) Thurber, was born, November 10, 1967, in Cary Illinois.

Paula was a 1985 graduate of Cary High School. She recently attended Indian Hills Community College pursuing a career in health care.

Paula moved to Oskaloosa in August 2011, and on March 17, 2012, she married Scott Allen Whipple at the College Avenue Friends Church in Oskaloosa.

Paula was currently employed at the Oskaloosa Care Center as a C.N.A. She was a member of the College Avenue Friends Church and she enjoyed crocheting, cooking, flower gardening, and her five “fur babies”: Farleigh, Reilly, Addison, Missy and recently deceased Lady.

Paula’s family includes her husband, Scott Whipple of Oskaloosa; her father, Ronald Thurber of Wonewoc, WI; her daughter, Emily Thurber of Wisconsin Dells, WI; a sister, Marlene Henry of Wisconsin Dells, WI; a brother, Ronnie Thurber of Cary, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Paula was preceded in death by her mother.

Memorial services for Paula will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 29, at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Tower of College Ave. Friends Church officiating.
The family will greet visitors from 9 a.m. to service time on Tuesday.
As was Paula’s wish, her body has been cremated.
