Rebecca Benge, 55, of Oskaloosa died Friday, July 25, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. She was born Sunday, June 28, 1959 in Prescott, Arizona, the daughter of Patrick and Lois O’Neill.

Following school Rebecca went to work doing laundry in a nursing home for about 20 years. Lastly, Rebecca worked at C.O.C. in Oskaloosa.

She attended Bethel Baptist Church. On June 28, 2010, Rebecca was united in marriage to Harold Benge in Oskaloosa.

She loved her cats and watching crime movies. She also enjoyed woodworking and going to the races, especially the demolition derby.

She is survived by her husband; 6 sisters: Barbara Kunzler of Rose Hill, Louisa, Priscilla and Julie O’Neill, Jennifer Taylor and Sarah (& Dan) VerMulm all of
Oskaloosa; a brother: Patrick O’Neill of Yuba City, California; and many nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Joshua Andrew O’Neill.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 10 A.M. in the Bethel Baptist Church in Oskaloosa with Reverend Steve Cox officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa.
Visitation will begin Tuesday, July 29, 2014 after 1 P.M. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa and the family will be present at the funeral chapel from 2:30 – 5 P.M. Tuesday to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter or to Bethel Baptist Church.
