Navy & Gold Gala set for Saturday, July 26

The Navy & Gold Gala

The Navy & Gold Gala

The Navy & Gold Gala, formerly the Duck Plucker’s Ball, will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Penn Central Mall in Oskaloosa.

This fundraiser, hosted by the William Penn Athletic Booster Club, will be a fun-filled event with silent and live auctions, dinner, contests and raffle drawings. Proceeds from this year’s event will help fund the purchase of vans to meet the University’s transportation needs—benefitting multiple groups on campus including athletics, student groups, faculty, staff, student life, marching band, fine arts, and more.

“We’re excited about the Navy and Gold Gala and building off the support that the Duck Plucker’s Ball gathered over the past two years. The Athletic Booster Club believes that altering the focus of the event will make it more engaging to community members with diverse interests—with programming, raffle and auction items that are attractive to all. There will still be an assortment of items that appeal to those that are interested in the outdoors as well, satisfying the passionate supporters of the past few years,” says Director of University Relations Nik Rule.

The event will be held at the Penn Central Mall from 5:00 pm–10:00 pm, dinner will be served at 6:00 pm. Don’t miss out on a chance to bid on fantastic packages including getaway trips, tickets to special events and sporting venues in the Midwest, original artwork, William Penn gear, gift certificates, and much more! Many of the items have been donated by local businesses and organizations.

This year’s theme is the “Wild, Wild West”. Guests are encouraged to participate in any of the evening’s contests, including the “Boots & Bling” Best Dressed Contest and Best Table Decoration. William Penn alumnus, Rick Wrisinger ’77, of Wrisinger Auctions, will serve as the auctioneer for the live auction portion of the evening.

Raffle drawings will also be held for a Remington Versa Max® Sportsman® 12-guage 28” Shotgun and a Weber Spirit Gas grill donated by True Value Hardware. Tickets are 1 for $5 or 3 for $10.

Corporate sponsors for the 2014 Gala are: Bank Iowa; Bates Funeral Chapel; Hawkeye Real Estate; Garland Van Arkel Langkamp Funeral Chapel; Hy-Vee; Mahaska; Mahaska Health Partnership; MidWestOne Bank; State Farm, Kelli Steil, Agent; and Sterling Physical Therapy. These sponsors will be hosting tables at the event and are William Penn Athletic Booster Club members for the 2014–15 school year.
