Youth Soccer Camp

Greg Walter, collegiate coach and head coach of Oskaloosa High School Girls Soccer, as well as President of Mahaska County (youth) Soccer Club, hosted a 3 day soccer camp this week June 3rd – 5th. The camp taught soccer drills and basic foundations of the game. Thirty-one players aged 4 through 13 attended the camp held at the Lacey Recreation Complex. Coach Walter stated that the idea for the camp was for the youth to learn basics while playing games and having fun. To add to the fun and further motivate participants, the high school assistant coach and team players from OHS girls helped Greg divide drills and teach these potential future Oskaloosa players the game. “Having high school players is a benefit for everyone”, stated Coach Walter,”the younger players look up to the high school players and it helps get them interested in playing when they reach high school level and sometimes beyond. It’s a win-win!” For more pictures of the camp like us on facebook at facebook.com/mcrf.laceyrecreation.
