Iowa’s Mike Lewis and Darius Reynolds Recognized by AFL for Week 12 Honors

DES MOINES – The Iowa Barnstormers defensive lineman Mike Lewis was named the Arena Football League’s Riddell Defensive Player of the Week while wide receiver Darius Reynolds has been nominated Most Valuable Player for Week 12, the League announced today.

Lewis (6-2, 260, Adrian) collected seven tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup in Iowa’s 58-48 victory over the Orlando Predators in Week 12. He also moved past B.J. Cohen for fifth place on the AFL’s career sack leaders list, bringing his five-year total to 47.5 in the game.

2014 is Lewis’ fifth in the Arena Football League. So far this season, he has tallied 9.5 sacks for a loss of 53 yards. In addition, Lewis has accounted for 27 total tackles and has served as one of the leaders of the Barnstormers defensive line.

Reynolds (6-2, 215, Iowa State) played his highest scoring game of the 2014 season last Saturday night, tallying four receiving touchdowns for a total of 123 yards. Reynolds proves to be one of Iowa’s leading receivers accounting for 123 total scoreboard points. Of his twenty-three touchdowns, five have been hauled in on the ground.
