TONY VALDEZ LARGE BAND TO OPEN SUMMER CONCERT SERIES AT HISTORIC CAMP DODGE POOL COMPLEX – MAY 22

The Adjutant General of Iowa, Maj. Gen. Tim Orr, cordially invites you to Camp Dodge for The Adjutant General’s Summer Concert Series at the historic Camp Dodge pool complex, 7105 NW 70th Ave., Johnston. The Tony Valdez Large Band opens the concert series on Thursday, May 22 with their signature Latin/Rock sound.

The concert series, which is free and open to the public, consists of five concerts on Thursdays in May and June, beginning May 22 and ending June 26. Concerts start at 7 p.m. Please bring your lawn chairs. Coolers and picnic baskets are welcome. Concessions are available for purchase. In the event of inclement weather, concerts will be rescheduled, if possible.

The Tony Valdez Large Band consists of Steve Charlson on bass; Jason Danielson on keyboards; Don Jaques on saxes and flute; Jim Oatts on trumpet; Jim Parker on drums; John Benoit on trombone; Jim Stevens on timbales/bongos/percussion; Vince Valdez on vocals and congas/percussion; Tony Valdez on vocals and guitars; and sound engineer Scott Abrahamson.

Visitors can enter Camp Dodge through either the main gate at 7105 NW 70th Ave., Johnston or the historic East Gate at 7700 NW Beaver Dr., Johnston. Photo identification (a driver’s license is acceptable) is required for admittance to Camp Dodge for individuals 16 years of age and older.

Note that ALL motorcyclists (drivers and passengers) on Camp Dodge are required by Department of Defense policy to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) consisting of helmet, eye protection (full-face shield or goggles or sunglasses), gloves, long pants, long-sleeved shirt or jacket, and over-the-ankle footwear while traveling on Camp Dodge. Motorcyclists without the required PPE may park their motorcycles at the Beaver Drive gate turnaround and walk to the pool complex (approximately three blocks).
