The Lacey Recreation Complex in Oskaloosa sees very busy weekends in the spring and this past weekend was no exception. “More than 2,000 visited different activities over the weekend,” said Sherry Vavra, Executive Director of Mahaska Community Rec Foundation. “From Friday night until Sunday at the complex Youth Soccer games and a tournament were held on the grass fields, a High School Boys Soccer game at the Stadium, Little League Games at the 5-plex, Babe Ruth Games at Kentfield fields, and Greg Dickel from Des monies hosted a PGF Heartland Softball tournament for 14U, 16U and 18U girls at the 5-plex. Between those activities over 2,000 spectators came to watch and cheer their players!” The PGF tournament also brought in 12 collegiate coaches to scout players. Many were new visitors to the complex for the PGF tournament and compliments were given throughout the day. Dickel stated that he would like to make this an annual event at the 5-plex. One coach from Central Methodist college summed up the weekend perfectly when he stated as he left the complex, “Nice facility, good hospitality!” Like MCRF’s on facebook page @ https://www.facebook.com/mcrf.laceyrecreation and keep updated with pictures of local activities.
