Remember being children and spending warm sunny days outdoors, having family time by the lake, enjoying nature? Even in this year’s cool weather, the Oskaloosa Elementary first grade class spent a day scoping out the pond between the Lacey Recreation Complex and the Elementary School. Laughing first graders ran all along the pond exploring nature and “looking for things!” as one boy described it. When asked what he was looking for his answer was a very excited, “I don’t know!” Another first grade little girl, after netting a minnow, clarified, “We are on a scavenger hunt!” The first grade teacher said that this was part of their end-of-school outings and they were scoping out a scavenger hunt by the pond. By this observer, all seemed to be happy to be outdoors , just to simply be exploring!
