PELLA — Central College’s Angie Allgood (sophomore, Muscatine) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Division III women’s at-large team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Allgood is now under consideration for Academic All-America honors.

The at-large squad is for athletes in numerous sports including tennis, golf, swimming and wrestling, among others.

The No. 1 player on the Central women’s tennis squad, Allgood has a 3.94 grade point average (4.0 scale) with a business management major. She compiled a 9-2 record at No. 1 singles last fall for the Dutch, and was 8-3 in doubles matches, teaming with Megan Davis (sophomore, Highlands Ranch, Colo./Valor Christian HS).

Also an Academic All-Iowa Conference honoree, Allgood has received all-conference tennis honors in singles the past two years and in doubles last fall. A two-time letterwinner, Allgood has twice won the team’s De Haan Most Valuable Player Award.

Allgood was chosen in District VIII, which includes Division III colleges in most states west of the Mississippi River including Iowa, Texas, Colorado, Nebraska, California, Oregon and Washington. She was among 10 athletes from the district cited and one of four from the Iowa Conference.
