Oskaloosa–The William Penn University Athletics Booster Club has announced the recipients of April’s Player of the Month awards.

Senior baseball player Kyle Mauricio (Ardene Hills, Minn., Physical Education), won the Male award, while junior softball player Brittanee Grove (Runnells, Iowa, Elementary Education) took the Female honor.

Mauricio hit .400 (20-for-50) with one double, ten runs, and seven RBIs. He also walked eight times and was hit by pitch six times (only one strikeout) for a .523 on-base percentage. The senior had a hit in 12 of WPU’s 17 games, including six multi-hit performances. Mauricio was named Midwest Collegiate Conference Player of the Week once.

Grove hit .513 (39-for-76) with 11 doubles, one triple, seven home runs, 35 runs scored, and 30 RBIs. She also walked 19 times and was hit by pitch twice for a .612 on-base percentage. The junior had a hit in 22 of the Statesmen’s 27 games, highlighted by 14 multiple-hit showings. She was a two-time MCC Player of the Week and led William Penn to its seventh regular season title.

The monthly awards are the first for both individuals.
