Top-Five Finish for Statesmen at Tier 1 Event
Addison, Ill.–The William Penn men’s bowling team opened the second half of its season with a big performance as it competed at the Kegel/ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic Saturday and Sunday.
The Statesmen placed fifth out of 56 teams at the Tier 1 competition with a nine-game tally of 9,192 pins. Notre Dame (Ohio) won the event with 9,566 pins, just nine more than Wichita State (Kan.).
Christopher Via of Notre Dame was the individual champion with a 234.6 average (2,111), while Cameron Foster (Sr., West Jordan, Utah, Business Management) finished in ninth place at 215.2.
Brandon Barboza (Jr., Brick, N.J., Sociology) was right behind him in 11th at 213.6. Jacques Kaune (So., Anchorage, Alaska, Business Management) just missed the top 20, tying for 21st at 208.4.
Drew Balta (Sr., Walford, Iowa, Education) and Piet Schaeffer (Sr., Livingston, Scotland, General Mathematics) each started six games. Balta owned a 191.8 average, while Schaeffer was at 189.0.
Travis Scott (So., West Saint Paul, Minn., Physical Education), at 197.3, and Lucas Perdieu (Fr., DeWitt, Iowa, Public Accounting), at 193.3, rounded out the navy and gold scoring with three games apiece.
