Findlay, Ohio–Four members of last fall’s Statesmen football team were both productive on the field as well as in the books as the Mid-States Football Association announced its all-academic team today.

Brock Peery (Sr., Payson, Utah, Secondary Education) topped the navy and gold with a 3.81 Grade Point Average, tying him for 22nd on the list. The award is the second for Peery. He is one of 38 student-athletes who were also honored in previous years. A total of 115 players garnered the academic recognition throughout the Association.

Evan Ressler (Jr., Cascade, Iowa, Biology) was next with a 3.77 GPA, while Justin Lewis (Jr., Florence, Ala., Sociology) entered this spring with a 3.65 mark. Sam Taylor (Jr., Eddyville, Iowa, Industrial Technology) also made the list with a 3.44 GPA.

To be eligible to be on the team, athletes must be of at least junior academic standing, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or above on a 4.0 scale, and must be a varsity starter or key reserve player.
