GRINNELL’S LEVIN, BRUS NAMED MWC PERFORMERS OF THE WEEK

GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College’s Hayley Levin ’16 and Michael Brus ’14 have swept the Midwest Conference Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week honors.

Levin, from Highland Park, Ill. (Deerfield), won the women’s honor and Brus, of Davenport, Iowa (North), claimed it on the men’s side. They are the sixth and seventh Pioneers to be named MWC Performer of the Week this season.

Brus won a pair of events in the Pioneers’ dual meet with Connecticut College, the eighth-ranked team in the nation, at Naples, Fla. He claimed top honors in the 200-yard individual medley in 1:59.94 and 500 freestyle in 4:46.99. He currently has the top time in the MWC in the latter event. The defending national 200 backstroke champion also competed on the 200 freestyle relay team that had a time of 1:31.14.

Levin placed first in the 200-yard individual medley in the Pioneers’ dual meet with Connecticut College. She had a time of 2:16.05, which ranks first in the MWC. Levin also placed third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.12 and was part of the third-place 200 medley relay team that finished in 1:57.32.
