George Daily Community Auditorium

George Daily Community Auditorium

OSKALOOSA, IA — Calling all kids! Auditions for Missoula Children’s Theatre’s production of Beauty Lou and the Country Beast, a western retelling of the classic Beauty and the Beast, will be held on Monday, January 13th at the George Daily Auditorium at 4 p.m. This play tells the story of Beauty Lou, the oldest daughter of the bronc-bustin’ balladeer Buck. At the local country fair, she is upset by the ungrateful behavior of a miner and calls him a beast. Beauty Lou and the Beast must both learn to look beyond appearances and first impressions to see the beauty that dwells inside.

Approximately 60 students in kindergarten through 12th grade are needed to fill all the roles. There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast. Students wishing to audition must arrive at the scheduled starting time and stay the entire two-hour session. The first rehearsal begins 10-15 minutes after tryouts. This is a group audition so no preparation is required. Students should come with a smile and be ready to have fun!

A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the end of the audition. Rehearsals will be conducted Tuesday, January 14th through Friday, January 17th at the George Daily. Although not all cast members will be needed at every session, those auditioning must have a clear schedule for the entire week and if selected, be able to attend all rehearsals required for their role.

Performances of Beauty Lou and the Country Beast are Saturday, January 18th at 3 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for students. Group rates are available!

This opportunity is made possible by the sponsorship of MidWestOne Bank, the Sunrise Kiwanis of Oskaloosa and the Kiwanis Club of Oskaloosa. For tickets or more information, contact the George Daily Auditorium box office at (641) 672-0799 or online at www.georgedaily.org.
