Imogene Fisher, 92, of Oskaloosa died Sunday, January 5, 2014, at Crystal Heights Care Center in Oskaloosa.
Imogene was born May 17, 1921, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Henry and Jeanette Cowan Ross. On June 19, 1943 she was united in marriage to William B. Fisher in Lancaster, Missouri.
Following their marriage they lived in Wright, Iowa. In 1963 they moved to Oskaloosa. Imogene worked as a clerk in the Mahaska County Soil Conservation office for many years. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Skip-Bo, and doing word find puzzles.
Her family includes her husband of over 70 years William B. Fisher of Oskaloosa; two children, Wanda Van Roekel of Des Moines and William R. Fisher of Columbia City, Indiana; four grandchildren, Norman (& Jennifer) Van Roekel, Nancy Van Roekel, Paula Fisher, and Billie Jo (& Brook) Miller; nine great grandchildren, Joe Van Roekel, Nick Van Roekel, Taylor (& Clayton) Boeyink, Madison Vander Well, Bailey Fisher, Grant Lyle, Ryan Lyle, Benjamin Miller and Quinlan Miller; two sisters in law, Sarah Prather of Oskaloosa and Mary Morris of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.
Imogene was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter-in-law: Marilyn Fisher; a sister: Dwella Labarre; and two brothers: Leonard Ross and Glen Cowan.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 10, 2014 at 11 A.M. at the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Don Job officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation with the family will be Friday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at 11 a.m.
