A Wapello County Sheriff’s Department Press Release

On November 17, 2013, at 12:59pm Wapello County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a motor vehicle accident on Hwy 63 south of Eddyville. Deputies arrived and located a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina located between the two bridges near the creek. The driver Patrick Allen Douglas Age: 60 of Ottumwa was located pinned in the vehicle. Eddyville Fire and Wapello Rural Fire used JAWS to remove Mr. Douglas from the vehicle, which took nearly hour and a half. The investigation revealed that the accident occurred between 5-6p on Friday, November 15, 2013. Mercy One (helicopter) landed at the scene and transported Mr. Douglas to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Other agencies that assisted were ORMICS and Iowa State Patrol. Charges are pending.

This criminal charge is an accusation and the Defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
