William Penn University

William Penn University

With a heavy heart and deep sadness William Penn University announces the accidental death of freshman Renell Perkins on Thursday, October 24. Our heartfelt condolences and sincere prayers go out to Renell’s family, friends and fellow students. The Perkins family was notified last evening at their home in Michigan.

Oskaloosa Police and Paramedics on the scene reported that the death seems to be associated with diabetes and insulin related complications. An official cause of death is yet to be determined.

Campus counselor, Tyne Smith, and campus minister, Spencer Thury, are on campus providing support and guidance to students. A group meeting will be held in the Chief Mahaska room to help students through this difficult time. Additional counseling support will be made available, if needed.

Our continued prayers of support and healing go out to the Perkins family and our students.
