Oskaloosa–The William Penn men’s golf team is back on the course preparing for its 2013-2014 season under new head coach Steve Tucker.

There is an air of mystery about this year’s squad, and that is exciting for Tucker and others close to the program. Eleven of the 15 team members are new this fall.

“We honestly do not know how good we are or can be,” Tucker said. “We will grow each week.”

Tucker is impressed with the competitiveness his players have shown in the early going as the preseason rolls on.

“I am excited to be back on the staff, and with so many new players on the roster, this really is a new chapter for the William Penn men’s golf program,” Tucker said. “Practice has gone very well so far with everyone getting along well and competing at a high level.”

The Statesmen are working towards their first meet which will take place on September 7-8 at the Mount Mercy Cropper Classic.
