Goodwill of Oskaloosa updates it’s location
The Goodwill location at Penn Central Mall has been undergoing renovation for a few weeks now.
Jim Farlow, manager of the local Oskaloosa location spoke with me about their construction. “Our main goal was to expand our processing area, where we receive donations. Before we were squeezed pretty tight, it was pretty much an unsafe environment, that we managed to work very well, but we needed a lot more space. So we doubled the size of our processing area, and increased the size of our sales floor by approximately 800 feet.”
The store has remained open during the remodeling process, Farlow explained that he hoped to have some sales and a renewal grand opening once things are complete.
I asked him what the proceeds from the sales at Goodwill went towards. “Goodwill’s mission is to provide education programs, work programs for individuals and families with barriers, to give them the opportunity to become part of the social life of a normal realm.” “We place a lot of people in jobs, we give a lot of people education opportunities that would not normally have that” Farlow explained.
Farlow hopes that everyone will come and visit them, and to this point they have had nothing but positive remarks on the renovations taking place.
For those that may have seen the construction going on currently, when everything is completed, the entrance will once again be in it’s original location, but will be automatic double doors making access much easier for everyone.
Farlow believes it’s gonna be a lot better store for everyone in Oskaloosa”
