Mahaska Community Soccer Club prepares for Season
Oskaloosa, Iowa – Over the weekend Youth Soccer volunteers came to the Lacey Recreation Complex to help sort soccer balls, organize equipment, paint lines and get ready for youth soccer fall season, set to begin practice Monday August 19.
Kendra Charbonneau, new director of safety for the MCSC, was happy to see the soccer fence going up on part of the complex’s soccer fields. “YES!” she exclaimed when she asked and was told it was being installed. “Safety is a great concern and I am happy that in one location we will have a fence that keeps the soccer balls from going onto 238th street. This is a great complex and its growing all the time and with that growth we are glad to see added safety measures going in.”
According to Sherry Vavra, director at the complex, the fence was paid in part by an MCCF grant given to the complex in May to add this safety measure. “We count on things like grants, volunteers and donations to continue developing the complex and we plan with safety always part of the process,” Vavra said.
Charbonneau says she is looking forward to the season and is excited to be a new member on the MCSC board.
Youth Soccer games begin in September at the complex.
