Long-Time Child Care Provider Retires
Oskaloosa, Iowa – Sandra Voss, Director of Kids Corner Child Care, shared her final day on the job this past Friday with many of those she has had an impact on during her 19 years.
But those 19 years at Kids Corner wasn’t all. Sandra spent 10 years at the YMCA, had been a volunteer at Jack and Jill preschool, and also volunteered at Webster School, where she helped Mrs. Grafke in the kindergarten room there. “So children have been my life,” Voss said.
If you ask Voss about a particular favorite memory, she will tell you that she has many of those and finds it difficult to choose one. Many parents, children and co-workers all wrote notes to Voss, some of them helping to spark those memories.
Voss shared one of those memories that were brought back to her by the words of one of those notes. “Do you remember, when you had my daughter and she had to wear an eye patch, and she didn’t want to wear it. So I made one for myself and wore one so she would wear hers.” Voss added, “I have a lot of good memories with many good people.”
Even in retirement children will be her focus, but this time it’s her grandson who appears to be the greatest beneficiary of her attention. “I’m going to enjoy being home and taking care of my grandson.”
