Oskaloosa, Iowa – Oskaloosa’s newest homeowner, Nichole Montavon and her two children, Alydia and Brant, were welcomed to their new home by a host of visitors, volunteers and others from Mahaska County Habitat for Humanity.

The process from start to finish took about three years to complete. Nichole waited for nearly two years before the construction process began, but once hammer met nail, the building and construction was completed in a year.

This was Mahaska County Habitat for Humanity Director Valinn McReynolds first such dedication, and her thought was that the day went smoothly.

This was also McReynolds first Habitat for Humanity home. “It was awesome to see a community come together to build a house. It is truly amazing what people can do for other people.”

The organization will be building a new home on a lot at 1004 Mabel and will also be doing a rehab/repair project on a one bedroom home located at 515 South A Street in Oskaloosa.

McReynolds says that Mahaska County Habitat for Humanity is accepting applications until August 19th for their next Partner Families.
