Oskaloosa, Iowa – With the impending upgrades to the parking area at Penn Central Mall, access to the facility was potentially going to be diminished..

But according to mall officials, a decision was made to reopen the west entrance of the mall, not only because of the impending parking lot reconstruction, but also a desire to take the facility back to its historical alignment.

The historical montage is the next step in finishing the entrance that is now open to foot traffic. Those involved with the mall see some positive benefits coming from reconnecting businesses like Goodwill that use to only be accessible via an exterior entrance.

Another favorite activity at Penn Central Mall is utilizing the vast indoor area for all weather walking. With the addition of the west entrance, those distances will change if a patron decides to utilize the expanded mall area.

The Penn Central Mall opened its doors in 1985 to a crowd of 11,000. Since that time, the mall continues to be home to area businesses and is a favorite spot for many area activities in the mall’s spacious center court.
