Oskaloosa, Iowa – Approving the fiscal year 2014 budget was the main topic at Monday’s Mahaska County Supervisor meeting.

Dave Sedevic with Mahaska County Conservation spoke, looking for some further insight into how his budget was funded this year versus years past. Also concerning the budget, Supervisor Greg Gordy questioned what the county’s liability could be facing if it was to start handling it’s own HAZMAT. The decision to drop SERG as the county’s HAZMAT response unit was delayed until further questions about liability can be answered.

Also approved was the Economic Development Funding Resolution.

Extra staff was approved at the Treasurer’s office during the meeting. The staff is utilized seasonally during periods of high demand.

The liquor license for Larry’s Berries and Vi’s Vines was approved.

In final action the Supervisors approved the health plan amendments and the administration agreement.
