Court Debt Amnesty is an opportunity for many people to reduce their outstanding Iowa court debt. The amnesty is only available until November 30, 2010, for certain types of court debt.

Under Court Debt Amnesty if you pay 50% of the total amount of your eligible court debt, the remainder will be waived, and your eligible debt will be considered paid in full. We are sending a preprinted application to those who are eligible. The application contains your name, the eligible debt and the amount of your amnesty.

Who’s Eligible?

Most people who are eligible for this program will receive an application in the mail. Watch for it in September. It will tell you what you owe and how to pay.

If you think you are eligible but don’t receive an application, e-mail us at paythefine@iowa.gov or call 1-888-9-PAY-FINE (1-888-972-9346). Wait to receive an application in the mail before sending a payment.
