Beacon City Council meets in normal session November 4

Beacon City Hall

Beacon City Council was called to order on Thursday November 4 at their normal start time of 7 pm at the Beacon City Hall, with a slight delay caused by a heating issue to the building.

Mayor Maxwell called the meeting to order, with council members Wayne Braden, Richard Thomas, and Aron Whitlatch. Ron Ferree and Tom VanDerVeer were absent.

  • Reports of Paying Jerry Thomas $150.00 dollars for gravel.
  • Elwood Hanna reported he flushed the hydrants the last week of October.
  • Justin Scholtus reported continued installation of new water meters, including the one for Century Mobile Home Park.
  • Bids on the fallen fencing around the lagoon from Bilt Rite Fence were accepted for $1500.00.
  • Bids for the work on the sink hole on Front Street. A bid by Curt Smith in the amount of $8000.00 was accepted on the repair.
  • City Clerk was unable to contact Stephen Memorial for report, no report for October.
  • No report from Mahaska Sheriff’s Office for the month of October, Mayor to follow up.

The next Beacon City Council meeting is scheduled for December 7 at 7 pm at the City Hall in Beacon.
