Oskaloosa City Council Fills Board Vacancies
Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Oskaloosa City Council met in regular session on December 17th to take up some appointments to local board and commissions, finishing up in a record 9 minutes.
The only public comment came from Pastor Mike Dotson of the First Assembly of God Church in Oskaloosa. Dotson wanted to commend the council for how they handled the Nativity issue that developed during the past week. “I appreciate how this council took the bull by the horns,” Dotson said to the council.
The first position filled was on the Oskaloosa Library Board. Chris Harbour was appointed to the board, with the term ending June 30, 2015.
The vacancies on the Historic Preservation Board came next, with the re-appointment of Wanda Gardner and Jeff Sisul to the board. Kerri Boender was appointed to the board. Those three appointments end December of 2015. Charlie Comfort was appointed to fill an open vacancy with the term ending in December of 2013.
Steve Brown’s appointment is expiring at the end of December and he was re-appointed to serve on the Airport Commission. The term is for six years.
The city council once again met on Tuesday night, but is was a scheduled closed session because of possible litigation involvement by the city.
