‘AMERICAN ETHANOL 200’ AT IOWA SPEEDWAY NAMED TOP NASCAR TRUCK RACE OF 2012

Ryan Blaney made a previous stop to the Iowa Speedway this year when he also raced in the Nationwide Series.

(NEWTON, Iowa – Dec. 4, 2012) The September 15 ‘American Ethanol 200’ at Iowa Speedway was cited by NASCAR as one of the two ‘Top Races’ in the 2012 Camping World Truck Series season.

According to the NASCAR news release, “Iowa Speedway has quickly developed the reputation of providing unmatched entertainment and drama when hosting NASCAR national series events, (and) this one was no different.”

The nationally televised race on Iowa Speedway’s 7/8-mile tri-oval was a battle of young guns, as Parker Kligerman and Ryan Blaney proved to be the class of the field. Kligerman led the most laps, but his hopes for a first win were dashed after a late race spin. Blaney went onto became the youngest winner in series history at 18 years, eight months and 15 days in only his third career race.

“Naturally we are very proud that our ‘American Ethanol 200’ race was honored by NASCAR,” said Iowa Speedway CEO, Doug Fritz. “We like to say that Iowa Speedway is the perfect racetrack for close and exciting competition. Clearly that’s not just promoter hype, it’s a fact.”

Season, Individual Event, and Holiday Family Pack’ tickets for Iowa Speedway’s 2013 racing season are currently on sale, and make great Holiday gifts for race fans of all ages. Additional information is available online at the facility’s official website, www.iowaspeedway.com, or by calling the toll-free telephone line at 866-RUSTY-GO (787-8946).
