The Odd Couple (Female Version) Opens Friday Night

The cast of ‘The Odd Couple’. They will be performing November 2nd and 3rd beginning at 7:30 pm at George Daily Auditorium.
Oskaloosa, Iowa – The work began after Labor Day, and now the Oskaloosa High School and Troupe 228 present ‘The Odd Couple’ (Female Version). The nearly all female cast is directed by Mrs. Jessica Weinreich.
The play was written by Neil Simon 20 years after the original male version and is presented with permission from Samuel French, Inc.
Weinreich had the lead in this production once before, saying, “It’s really funny.” Weinreich says she likes Neil Simon’s work, “and this one is the one that has the most girls in it.”
In a busy theater like George Daily, being able to build the set around the hectic schedule of the auditorium was challenging, but the biggest challenge was being able to get all the lines memorized. “It’s really really wordy,” Weinreich says of the production. The two lead actresses in the production had a large amount of lines, being on stage for nearly the whole performance. “That’s a lot of lines,” Weinreich explained of the dedication needed to prepare. “They have done an amazing job.”
