Some Haunted House Choices Await

Chris Meinert and William Smead helped to coordinate and prepare for this years haunted house at the McGrew Fine Arts Building on the William Penn campus.
Oskaloosa, Iowa – It’s something many people can’t wait to do at least once a year, other than open presents at Christmas. The anticipation of entering an unfamiliar dark room, with no sense of direction, and not knowing what might be around the corner. Yep, if you’re a fan of haunted houses, there are a couple of options for you this year in Oskaloosa.
Halloween and all its spookiness have quickly become one of the favorite holidays in the United States. And at the same time, haunted houses are just as popular as ever.
The first haunted house is located at McGrew Fine Arts Building on the east side of the William Penn campus. The driveway from North Market is currently torn up due to the construction of the new dormitory. Thankfully, you can still get there by utilizing Peasley Ave that is directly in front of the Oskaloosa Middle School.
ALIVE along with Alpha Mu Theta are sponsoring the ‘haunted house’. Both groups are involved in the arts at William Penn University.
The plans for the haunted house started to come together around fall break, and students have worked many extra hours preparing the building for this weekend.
Those age 14 and older are welcome to participate.
The haunted house at McGrew is Friday the 26th and Saturday the 27th from 7pm-11pm and then November 2nd & 3rd at the same time. There is no cost to enjoy this haunted house.
Another option for those seeking to be brave this weekend is the ‘Haunted Hallway’. The Oskaloosa High School Seniors are putting on this event. The cost is $3 each to get in. Groups of 4 or more is $2 each.
You can catch them on Saturday from 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm at the Oskaloosa High School. Victims enter through the cafeteria entrance.
The proceeds from the Haunted Hallway will help fund the Senior Gift for the school.
