Democrat Candidates Help Mix It Up At Annual Soup Supper

Congressman Dave Loebsack visits with a local resident during Thursday’s soup supper fundraiser by the Mahaska County Democrats.
Oskaloosa, Iowa – It’s an annual event for the Mahaska County Democrats. The once-a-year chance to serve up some food, a bit of fun and conversation, all along with helping to raise some funds for their local political efforts.
This year’s supper was just like most others. Paul DeGeest was serving up his famous chili, while a host of volunteers worked to make sure the needs of the visitors were met.
There is a difference this year over last, which is that it is an election year. Democrat candidates Tim Tripp and Dave Loebsack were on hand to talk with local voters and share a meal together.
“These soup suppers are a great way for people to come together, share stories, being encouraged by each other in many ways,” says Senate District 40 candidate Tim Tripp. “Paul, his chili is the best.”
U.S. Congressman Dave Loebsack stopped by and had some supper with local Democrats Thursday evening as well. “I think it’s just wonderful to have not just Democrats, Republicans, Independents eating together… it’s wonderful.”
Other notable participants in past years include Congressman Boswell, Joe Judge, Eric Palmer and many more.
