Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Mahaska County Supervisors met in a special meeting Friday morning to tie up some loose ends from the meeting earlier in the week.

The Supervisors approved the minutes and the agenda, along with two culvert projects that should get underway this week.

They also approved the hiring of Michael Galloway of Ahlers Law Firm to handle union negotiations.

They then passed the resolution approving a transportation support services agreement with the City of Oskaloosa and Snyder & Associates, Inc.

In the agreement it states, “the county and city are actively and cooperatively pursuing transportation improvements for the region, specifically improvements to Highway 63 and a regional airport.”

It goes on to say, “the county and city are continuing efforts to further advance information about the importance of the improvements for the long term vitality of the region.”

“Be it resolved that the Mahaska County Board of Supervisors hereby approved a joint funded transportation support service agreement with the City of Oskaloosa in an amount not to exceed $21,000 for the purpose of promoting and further advancing education efforts about the improvements to Highway 63 and other transportation projects with the public, as well as local, state and federal staff and decision makers.”

The Supervisors will meet in regular session October 15th at 9 am in the 3rd floor conference room of the courthouse.
