Oskaloosa, Iowa – In a time of budget cuts, finding other sources of help can become a challenge. One local business stepped up to help make things just a bit brighter for one area non-profit.
This is the first time the credit union has donated to the agency, and it is thanks to one local citizen for reaching out.
Jimmy Carter approached the credit union and they were sold, saying “they thought it was a great organization” and “a good cause.”
Carter said that he knows Steve really well and decided to approach him about partnering up with the Agency on Aging. “He graciously contacted the right people. We’re so very grateful. That’s not just flowery words, we’re grateful for the donation.”
Carter also expressed his gratitude for the partnership Community 1st Credit Union has shown with it’s donation. “We’re grateful for the community service that Community 1st provides.”
Margaret White has been the treasurer for more than 20 years at the agency. She also expressed her gratitude towards Community 1st for their donation, “it will be a big help.”
Carter also wanted to thank Cheryl Wissler, the site manager for the Agency on Aging. “Cheryl Wissler is just outstanding,” going on to say, “She does way above her job title.”
White says that besides the meals provided at the center, they also deliver 100 meals a day.
