Mahaska Health Partnership Suggests Foods Men Should Eat
MAHASKA COUNTY –Mahaska Health Partnership Dietitian Lea Rice wants men to know what food they should be eating to maintain and boost their overall health.
With the goal of heightening awareness of preventable health problems, MHP is encouraging men to make informed, conscious decisions about their diet, exercise and leisure activities.
“As men age, they are at increased risk for developing certain age-related health conditions including heart, prostate, circulation and cholesterol problems,” Rice shared, “The sooner changes are made to your diet, the better your chances will be to decrease your risk.”
Rice recommends these 10 foods as health boosters for men: oysters, bananas, fatty fish, broccoli, Brazil nuts, whole grains, plant stanols, soybeans, berries or cherries and red-orange colored vegetables.
“Just as women need certain foods during their pregnancy to ensure a healthy baby, men need foods that help them maintain muscle mass, prevent prostate cancer and more,” Rice explained.
