Tumblers Compete at Nationals

Oskaloosa, Iowa – On Tuesday June 19th USTA kicked off their 42nd annual tumbling, trampoline, & double mini national competition in Madison, WI. Cheer & Tumble Tyme of Oskaloosa and Albia took 8 of their 15 national qualifiers up to compete with over 1600 other tumblers from across the nation. The national competition concluded the 2011-2012 teams season and was the teams last competition as Cheer & Tumble Tyme. For the 2012-2013 season, the team will be merging with the former YMCA Aerials Gymnastics and competing as Transform Academy. Transform Academy’s first tumbling competitiong will be Saturday, August 18th at the Iowa State Fair. Any individual wishing to sign up for the tumbling or cheer program can do so Tuesday, July 3rd and Thursday, July 5th, 5:00-7:30pm at Transform Academy’s University Park campus (located in the former Vennard College Gymnasium) or by contacting Meghan Slay at transform.gymnastics@gmail.com or 641-295-1434.

Results from the USTA Nationals Meet:

Sub Beginners: Sadie Blommers of Oskaloosa placed 1st in her flight and 2nd overall with a score of 18.80. Lillian DeMoss of Albia placed 8th in her flight and 14th overall with a score of 15.0. Lydia Stevens of Albia placed 3rd in her flight and 6th overall with a score of 18.00. Chloe DeMoss of Albia placed 7th in her flight and 11th overall with a score of 17.50.

Beginners: Brooke Smith of Albia placed 9th in her flight and 21st overall with a score of 32.10.

Advanced Beginners: Abbey Griffin of Albia placed 4th in her flight and 12th overall with a score of 36.90. Kate Griffin of Albia placed 7th in her flight and 21st overall with a score of 32.10. Natalia James of Oskaloosa placed 7th in her flight and 15th overall with a score of 23.9.
