Local Church Helps Bring Color To Medians

These volunteers from the Oskaloosa First Assembly of God helped to beautify local medians on the East side of Oskaloosa (submitted photo)

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Everything is coming up flowers, well at least in a couple medians at the intersections of A Ave. and 17th street, also 3rd Ave and 17th street. Four years ago First Assembly of God with Pastor Michael Dotson and its members decided to do something special for the community. It was decided to beautify those bland medians north of the church. Pastor Dotson along with master gardener Diane Shelton coordinated efforts with Karen Hafner of Oskaloosa Chamber Development group and Stams Green house to get started. Pastor Dotson, Diane Shelton, George Rust, Howard Gay, and Rich Shelton had volunteered to do the planting this year. It was noted that there have been many compliments from past years. As the group planted the medians there are always plenty of thumbs up from passersby.
