‘Have Fun Take Charge’

Participants at the ‘Have Fun Take Charge’ camp enjoy an old fashioned game of Duck Duck Goose.

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Many week camps have been going on, and the 4H was another of many options available to kids and their families during the past week. Their camp ends today, but during this week Sarah Hynick and Bryan Kloberdanz helped teach many different aspects of healthy living while having a good time.

‘Have Fun Take Charge’ describes itself as, “an outreach program that focuses on getting kids excited about going outside and becoming more active.” Their mission is, “that through the Have Fun & Take Charge participants we can create happier, healthier, and more active families that can positively influence their communities.”

Ten kids took part in the camp, located at the Southern Iowa Fairgrounds, where they had an opportunity to learn and play a new sport every day during this week from 9 am to noon.

They also learned about nutrition, healthy snacks, the nutritional values in different foods and the importance of keeping active.

Both Bryan and Sarah attend UNI and thought that holding the camp would be a good way to spend part of their summer vacation. “Decided to come home and do a camp,” Sarah said smiling and laughing.
