Linda L. Diehm, 68, of 1500 First Avenue East, Newton, Iowa, died on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 17, 2012, at the First Assembly of God Church in Newton with Don Hayes, pastor of the church, officiating. Music will be provided by Dorinda Diehm. Casket Bearers will be Ken Allsup, Dan Diehm, Joe Diehm, Craig Howard, Dan O’Halloran and Ron O’Halloran. Interment will be in the Lakeview Section of Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell beginning 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday and the family will be present at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Should friends desire memorials may be directed to the First Assembly of God Church in Newton.
Linda was born on February 25, 1944, in Grinnell, Iowa to Bernhardt and Georgia Belcher Diehm. She was raised in Grinnell and graduated with the Class of 1962 from Grinnell-Newburg High School. Following her education she became employed with the Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company and worked for 20 years in various departments. She has resided in Newton since 1997.
Linda was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Newton. She was a Sunday school teacher and enjoyed cooking and needle work. She was dedicated to her family and enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her siblings, Betty O’Halloran of Malcom, IA, Clara Duntz of Des Moines, IA, Carol Roger of Springfield, MO, Joe Diehm of Newton, IA, Diane Mortensen of Keota, IA, Deb Howard of New Sharon, IA and Daniel Diehm of Grinnell, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bertie and Jacob Diehm; and one sister, Patricia Mauskemo.
