Enjoying Downtown

Rosalie and her son Arik enjoy a gorgeous afternoon in Oskaloosa's Central Park on Wednesday afternoon
Oskaloosa, Iowa – Residents have been spoiled by the mild winter and early spring, and until recently, it almost felt more summer than spring.
Rosalie, along with her friends and their children, took some time to enjoy Central Park in downtown Oskaloosa on Wednesday afternoon.
“It’s a good place to meet everyone and get together. It’s a good place for friends to hang out.” Rosalie said of the reason why she and others enjoy the park.
The different opportunities of finding some sun, as well as some nice cool shade for the young ones, is also a reason she utilizes the park; along with what she believes to be a, mostly, bug-free area.
On many early release days from school it’s not uncommon to see youngsters running around the bandstand and playing in the park, especially as the population starts to utilize housing opportunities that are located in the downtown area. She and her friends all live within a few blocks of downtown and find the location convenient over other local parks.
Rosalie also points to a good clean area that has a well manicured lawn with very little trash, which helps with the positive atmosphere that residents enjoy while utilizing the park.
With the addition of the urban park, the downtown area will offer many amenities for those who chose to live and work in the central district.
