Morning rollover accident in Wapello County
A Fairfield resident was transported to Ottumwa Regional Hospital by ambulance after an early morning rollover on Highway 34 left her car upside down. Janice Coleman was passing a vehicle on Highway 34 just before the county road V37 overpass when she lost control.
Police and ambulance were called to the scene at 7:58 am on the morning of October 19. Coleman driving over the posted speed limit lost control while in the left lane on Highway 34 passing a vehicle in the right lane. She then went to the right lane and went off onto the North shoulder. 61 year old Coleman then lost control of her 1995 Toyota Land Cruiser swerving to the left then the right where it overturned on the roadway.
The Toyota then on it’s wheels rolled into the median striking the cable guard rail located under the overpass. Coleman’s vehicle traveled down the guardrail, finally coming to rest one again facing West. Driver admitted to drinking throughout the night and submitted to testing. She has been cited with failure to maintain control.
