GRINNELL’S BRUS QUALIFIES FOR U.S. OLYMPIC TRIALS IN 200-METER BACKSTROKE

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Barely 12 hours after completing a successful run at the NCAA Division III National Swimming and Diving Championships, Grinnell College’s Michael Brus ’14 was back in the pool again – and enjoying more success.

Brus qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in the 200-meter backstroke Sunday morning with a time of 2:04.70. The cutoff time was 2:04.99.

The Olympic Trials are slated for June 25-July 2 in Omaha, Neb.

On Saturday night, Brus wrapped up the NCAA meet by finishing third and earning All-America honors in the 200-yard backstroke. He was also an All-American in the 100 backstroke and honorable mention All-American in the 200 freestyle.
