Mahaska County Y Dolphins Excel at State Meet
Sophia Dykstra and Carson Breon, 2011-2012 State Swim Team Medalists, placing in the top three at State
Oskaloosa, Iowa – March 16, 2012 – The state YMCA swim meet was held in Marshalltown, Iowa on March 3 and 4. The Mahaska County YMCA and its Dolphins Swim Team sent 31 swimmers from the 2011-2012 squad to compete against the best of the best in this event. The state meet, held annually each year, is one that competitors must qualify for throughout the YMCA Swim Team season, by meeting or exceeding predetermined standards for both participation and event times during the year’s meets.
YMCA Executive Director Dawn Collins reported, “The 2011-2012 Dolphins Swim Team has been impressive both in and out of the pool this year. With 75 youth YMCA members on Swim Team, this program is one of the most successful the Mahaska County YMCA offers. The Swim Team program would not be possible without the support of the Dolphins Swim Team parents, coaches, and all the YMCA staff that impact each of these swimmers every day.”
