Rex A. Wright
Rex A. Wright, 76, of rural New Sharon, died Saturday morning, March 10, 2012, at his home. He was born January 31, 1936 at Lacey, the son of Reginald C. “Reg” and Georgena McDonough Wright. Rex graduated from the Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1955, and then attended Iowa State University for a short time. He came back to Mahaska County and farmed north of Oskaloosa for about 40 years. On June 29, 1963, he was united in marriage to Peggy Lewis at Kirksville, Missouri. Rex enjoyed collecting farm equipment toys, and was a member of Pheasants Forever and the Iowa Soybean Association.
His family includes his wife, Peggy Wright of rural New Sharon; a son: David Wright of Clearwater, Florida; a granddaughter, Morgan Wright; two sisters: Elaine Savage of McCook, Nebraska and Virginia Sue Wright of Oskaloosa; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents; Rex was preceded in death by a brother: Donnie Wright.
Private Family Graveside Services will be held Thursday at Pringle Cemetery near Bussey. Visitation will begin at the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa on Wednesday after 12 noon, and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Wednesday from 3:30 – 5 p.m. and again from 6 pm – 7:30 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. The family asks in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mahaska County Conservation Board or to Iowa Hospice.
