SIEDA Needs Volunteers For Board Of Directors

South East Iowa Economic Development Association

Southern Iowa Economic Development Association aka SIEDA is soliciting volunteers and recommendations of nominees for low income representation for the SIEDA Board of Directors. SIEDA is a private, non-profit corporation and serves as the parent organization for a variety of programs. SIEDA is governed by a twenty-four member tripartite Board of Directors. One-third of the Board consists of individuals elected by the low income to represent their interests.

Low income representatives can be current/former consumers who meet poverty guidelines or individuals who represent the low income in their county. Persons interested in serving as a low income representative on the SIEDA Board of Directors should attend a Special Nominations Meeting to be held on Friday, March 16 at 3:00 pm at the SIEDA Resource Center. Nomination forms are currently available at the SIEDA Resource Center located at 114 North Market St. in Oskaloosa. Additional nominations may be made by any person by submitting a candidate’s name. The candidate will be contacted to determine their willingness to serve.

Election of the low income representative for the SIEDA Board of Directors shall take place at the Special Election Meeting to be held on Wednesday, March 21 at 3:00 in the Mahaska County Resource Center. The nominee receiving the greatest number of votes, whether or not a majority of all votes cast, shall be declared the successful candidate. The nominee receiving the second highest number of votes will be declared as the county alternate. All new Board of Directors members will be seated at the regular monthly meeting held on March 26, 2012 at the main office located in Ottumwa.
