QUALIFIERS ANNOUNCED FOR NCAA D-III NATIONAL INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Grinnell, IA – Qualifiers were announced Monday for the NCAA Division III National Indoor Track and Field Championships slated for Friday and Saturday, March 9-10, in Grinnell.

Nine women’s individual champs and four men return to defend titles in the meet, which will be contested at Grinnell College’s Charles Benson Bear ’39 Recreation and Athletic Center Field House.

Returning male champs are Ben Scheetz of Amherst in the 800-meter run, Kevin Coyle of Springfield in the long jump, David Pless of Bates in the shot put and Pete Delzer of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in the weight throw.

Returning women’s winners are Erica Johnson of Buffalo State in the 60 dash (was the 55 dash last year), Keelie Finnel of Coe in the 800, Randelle Boots of Wellesley in the mile, Melissa Norville of Illinois College in the 60 hurdles (was the 55 hurdles last year), Elizabeth Evans of Rose-Hulman in the high jump, Abigail Schaffer of Moravian in the pole vault, Ashlynn Chavis of Methodist in the long jump, Tanasia Hoffler of Williams in the triple jump and Emma Dewart of Ithaca in the pentathlon.

Also, Wartburg’s women are back to defend its 4×400 relay title and Middlebury returns to defend the distance medley crown.
