Barnstormers Prepare For Osky Training Camp

Iowa Barnstormers Head Coach Mike Hohensee was in Oskaloosa Thursday in preparation for the teams arrival the 19th

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Cheering crowds and anxious onlookers are a more common sight this time of year, but it’s usually associated with basketball; not football.

But all of that is about to change when the Iowa Barnstormers come to town. The coaches and staff were in Osky Thursday in preparation for the teams arrival in the middle of the month.

The Penn Activity Center will be buzzing with the players, coaches, and staff of the Barnstormers. They will be sharing the space with the students and staff of the PAC along with eager fans trying to get a glimpse of their favorite arena football team.

35 players will arrive in Oskaloosa and the PAC, but only 24 of those will walk away as members of the 2012 Iowa Barnstormer team.

Head Coach Mike Hohensee was in Oskaloosa Thursday, along with his coaching staff and others, in a pre-planning trip. This was the coach’s third trip to the PAC, and he loved the facility from the first day. “It’s temperature controlled, obviously the fields in great condition, it’s isolated, and, for the time we’re here, it’s ours. We’re going to make it our home; come out here and be productive at the same time; get out in the community and get to know the people of Oskaloosa at the same time.”

Coach Mike Hohensee is one of the only people to have been a part of arena football since the beginning. This will be his 25th season in arena football, starting out in his earlier days as a player.

As was originally reported by CRI, the Barnstormers are looking to practice for two weeks. February 19th to March 3rd are the tentative dates.
